Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition เป็น Mozilla Firefox ที่ปรับแต่งมาให้เป็น Portable application ไม่จำเป็นต้องติดตั้งลงในเครื่องก่อนใช้งาน ทำให้สามารถนำไปใส่ใน USB flash drive แล้วพกพาไปเปิดในเครื่องอื่นได้ ไม่ว่าเครื่องนั้นจะใช้ Windows หรือ Mac OS X ก็ตาม ทำงานโดยเปิดโปรแกรมผ่าน PortableApps.com Launcher ซึ่งจะตรวจสอบข้อมูลในเครื่องก่อนเปิดโปรแกรม โดยภายในเป็น Mozilla Firefox ที่อัพเดทตาม official release

ความสามารถทั่วไป
  • Default Profile
    มีการบันทึก profile ลงใน Firefox portable directory โดยตรง เพื่อความสามารถในการพกพา

  • No Disk Cache
    ไม่มีการบันทึกข้อมูลสำรอง ลดขนาดพื้นที่ที่จำเป็นในการเปิดโปรแกรม

  • Multiple Instances Support
    รองรับการเปิดโปรแกรม Firefox หลาย profile พร้อมกัน

Firefox Portable Configulation

การปรับแต่เพิ่มเติมทำได้ผ่านไฟล์ FirefoxPortable.ini ที่อยู่ในโฟลเดอร์ FirefoxPortable\Other\Source\ แล้วจึงนำไปว่างไว้ที่ root folder โดยที่ผมปรับมี 2 ตัวแปรคือ
DisableSplashScreen=true
AllowMultipleInstances=true
เพื่อปิด Splash Screen ที่โผล่มาตอนเริ่มเปิดโปรแกรม และเปิดใช้งาน Multiple Instances

how to install Flash player to use with this portable Firefox krub ?
I've tried it many times, but the Flash installer had always put it in the local copy of Firefox.

copy plugin in local Firefox folder
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins
to
FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\plugins
or
FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

it work for me now. (^_^)

บน mac osx ได้ด้วยเหรอครับ...เหมือนเคยเปิดแล้วไม่ได้นี่นา

แต่ใน wikipedia บอกมาอย่างนั้น ^^"
